According to the inscription upper centre, sitter is Arlotto Mainardi, also known as Piovano Arlotto (1396-1484), rector of the church of San Cresci, Macinoli, Fiesole. This does not seem correct, however, since the picture clearly dates from well after Arlotto's lifetime and the sitter does not appear dressed as a cleric.
